The HEPP Division of the EPS awards five prestigious prizes in a ceremony during the International Europhysics Conference on HEPP taking place every two years.

For an outstanding contribution to High Energy Physics in an experimental, theoretical or technological area, will be awarded to one or more persons or to collaborations.

Overview

  • The prize will consist of a medal, a diploma and a monetary award to be individually quoted for each time the prize is announced.
  • The prize will initially be awarded every two years, at the occasion of the International Europhysics Conferences on High Energy Physics which are organized by the EPS.

Eligibility

  • The prize will be awarded to one or more persons or to collaboration(s).
  • Named individuals cannot be awarded posthumously.
  • Only works published in peer-reviewed journals will be considered in awarding the prize.
  •

Nomination Process

  • The HEPP Board will make a public call for nominations, notably using its website, the electronic newsletter e-EPS, and directly inform the International Advisory Committee of the EPS-HEP conference, the previous prize winners, and renowned experts in high energy physics.
  • A nomination should include personal details of the nominee(s), including biographical statement(s), and citation(s) highlighting the work of the nominee(s) and at least two but not more than three statements of support for the nomination from individuals who are familiar with the work of the nominee(s).
  • The final choice of the nominee(s) will be made by a committee consisting of the President of the European Physical Society or their representative, and the HEPP Board of the European Physical Society.

Key Dates

  • The call for the 2025 HEP Prizes is now open. Please submit a nomination here. Deadline for nominations 15 Jan 2025.
  • Awards will be presented at the EPS Conference on High Energy Physics taking place in Marseille 7-11 July 2025.

For an outstanding contribution to Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology in the last fifteen years, in an experimental, theoretical, or technological area.

Overview

  • The prize will consist of an amount in cash, a medal, and a certificate.
  • The prize will be awarded every two years, at the EPS-HEPP Conference organized by the EPS High Energy and Particle Physics Division.

Eligibility

  • The prize will be awarded to one or more individuals or one or more collaborations that have made outstanding contributions to the field of particle astrophysics and cosmology in the fifteen years preceding the award. The contributions can be either experimental or theoretical in nature and normally result from fundamental research.
  • The prize will be awarded without restrictions on nationality, race, sex or religion.
  • Personal applications for the award are not permitted.

Nomination Process
