A total of 42 national physical societies are EPS Member Societies. Together, they represent more than 120,000 members and physicists in Europe. Each Member Society sends one Delegate to Council and many have representatives in specific EPS bodies.

The EPS Associate Membership program allows Associate Members to participate in EPS governance and to contribute to the development of EPS activities and policy. Associate Membership is open to European research centres and institutions, universities, industrial partners, private companies, publishers, and indeed any European organisation supporting physics.

The scientific activities of EPS are organised through Divisions and Groups. These include topical conferences, seminars and workshops. The Divisions and Groups are governed by boards elected from members. Some Divisions have Sections representing focussed interests.

By playing an active role in the EPS, physicists can shape European science policy. The EPS offers a unique opportunity for individuals to express their opinions at the European level. Through the Divisions and Groups, it is possible to participate in the organisation of conferences, outreach, and other activities within a specific field. As a member of a committee, you can influence EPS strategy.

The EPS collaborates with many physics related learned societies in Europe and around the world. Members of Collaborating Societies can join the EPS at reduced rates. Moreover, members of the Collaborating Societies may submit papers to EPS meetings under the same conditions as EPS members. In some cases, EPS Individual Members may register at Collaborating Society meetings at Collaborating Society member rates.
