The Gero Thomas Award is made annually by the European Physical Society for outstanding contributions to the Society. It commemorates the invaluable service to the European Physical Society given by Gero Thomas during his long term in office as Executive Secretary from 1974 to 1999. It is awarded to and individual who has contributed very considerably to the European Physical Society.
The Gero Thomas Award winner will receive a medal.

2009 | Jaroslav Nadrchal Jaroslav Nadrchal has contributed significantly to the EPS through piloting activities aimed at improving relations among physicists in Eastern and Central European countries with physicists in Western Europe. |
2008 | George Morrison G. Morrison actively supported the EPS for over 30 years. As the editor of Europhyscis News, it was transformed into a lively news magazine. |
2005 | John Lewis John Lewis made important contributions to the EPS, particularly in his role as Treasurer. He was also instrumental in developing educational activities, including the Malvern Seminar. |
2002 | Eddy Lingeman Eddy Lingeman has shown dedication and commitment to the EPS and its goals since its creation. He has been involved in organising workshops, in EPS education activities and in the design and hosting of the EPS website. |
