The African Physical Society [AfPS] was created to promote and further research in Physics and Mathematics Africa, and to promote effective contacts and co-operation among African physicists and astronomers. The EPS supports the AfPS.
The African Astronomical Society was created in January 2011 to be the voice of the astronomy profession in Africa in order to promote and support research on the continent, and to facilitate the use of astronomy in addressing the challenges faced by Africa. The EPS supports the AfAS.

Organized by the Association of Asian Pacific Physical Societies [AAPPS] and the European Physical Society [EPS], the Asia-Europe Physics Summit continues to reinforce cooperation in physics research between Asia and Europe like in the 3 previous editions: ASEPS 1, Tsukuba, Japan (2010); ASEPS 2, Wroclaw, Poland (2011); and ASEPS 3, Chiba, Japan (2013). The “Chiba Statement” expresses the determination of the two societies to continue organising ASEPS meetings in the future.
Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East [SESAME] is the Middle East’s first major international research centre in the making.
It is a cooperative venture by scientists and governments of the region set up on the model of CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). It is being developed under the auspices of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization [UNESCO] following the formal approval given for this by the Organization’s Executive Board at the 164th session in May 2002.
The EPS supports grants for researchers from SESAME member countries to attend schools and training sessions.
