The EPS collaborates with European and International Organisations to support and promote physics across the globe.
The history of physics, its discoveries and scientists is fascinating and reminds us of the importance of physics for social, economic and cultural development of our civilisation. The EPS organises regular workshops and sponsors the European Centre for the History of Physics (ECHOPHYSICS) in Austria that organises seminars, lectures and exhibitions devoted to the history of physics.
The European Intergovernmental Research Organisations Forum (EIROForum) was created to play an active and constructive role in promoting European Science. The EPS is an observer on the Education and Outreach Working Group.
The EPS Solar Physics Division is a joint division with the EAS, where EPS Members and EAS Members collaborate in the organisation of conferences. The EPS and the EAS jointly propose policy initiatives.
The EPS is a member of the European Materials Forum [EMF]. The EMF is an independent and informal organization representing both public and private societies, companies and agencies committed to the scientific and technological development of Materials Science in Europe.
The EPS is a member of The Initiative for Science in Europe [ISE. ISE is an independent platform of European learned societies and scientific organizations whose aim is to promote mechanisms to support all fields of science at a European level, involve scientists in the design and implementation of European science policies, and to advocate strong independent scientific advice in European policy making.
In addition to being a Collaborating Society, the EPS and the American Physical Society [APS] work together on international projects. The EPS and APS can also issue joint statements.
The African Astronomical Society was created in January 2011 to be the voice of the astronomy profession in Africa in order to promote and support research on the continent, and to facilitate the use of astronomy in addressing the challenges faced by Africa. The EPS supports the AfAS.
The African Physical Society [AfPS] was created to promote and further research in Physics and Mathematics Africa, and to promote effective contacts and co-operation among African physicists and astronomers. The EPS supports the AfPS.
The EPS and the Chinese Physical Society [CPS] exchange speakers at important conferences.
The EPS regularly receives reports on the activities of FEIASOFI, and is represented at FEIASOFI general meetings.
In addition to being a Collaborating Society, the EPS and the Optical Society [OSA] work together on international projects and the joint organisation of conferences.
Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East [SESAME] is the Middle East’s first major international research centre. It is a cooperative venture by scientists and governments of the region set up on the model of CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research).
The EPS supports grants for researchers from SESAME member countries to attend schools and training sessions.
