Division of Physics in Life Sciences

The object of the Division is to boost the influence and role of physics in the study of all kinds of biological problems at any possible level (research, education, dissemination and policies).

The ultimate goal of DPL would be to create a dynamic community of Physics interested in Life Science through a common space for sharing knowledge and resources.

Topical engagements include:

  • Molecular Biophysics
  • Cell Biophysics
  • Mesoscale Biophysics
  • Synthetic Biology
  • Computational and Biophysics Modeling
  • Theoretical Biophysics

Activities include:

  • Increasing collaborations among DPL members and with other academic fields and industry sectors.
  • Generating opportunities for young researchers.
  • Disseminate the knowledge to scientist and to the society for public understanding of the role of Physics in Life Sciences.
  • Bioforphys prize: two prizes for young and established researcher categories in the area of biological physics
  • Bioforphys conference: Organised regularly on a 3-4 year basis.
  • Special issues and contributions for Europhysics News, the magazine of EPS
  • Felix Ritort – Chair
  • Matteo Marsili – Board Member
  • Chantal Valeriani – Board Member
  • Gili Bisker – Board Member
